Insurance Information
Insurance can be confusing. The friendly and informed staff at Tacoma Eye at Westgate are familiar with nearly every insurance carrier.
Insurance carriers have the final say in what they will and will not cover. It is important to read the Explanation of Benefits you receive from the insurance carriers. The ultimate responsibility of any monetary balance is that of the financially responsible party.
Below is a list of our featured in-network and out of network partners.
Effective July 1, 2023, our office will no longer be accepting MEDICAID vision plans. Please consult your respective vision plan for alternate providers in the Tacoma area.
Don’t see who you are looking for? Please call our office for assistance (Be sure to have your insurance cards handy!). Our staff can help.
After we have your insurance information we verify your insurance to be sure it is active. It is the patient guardian responsibility to know their specific carrier details – our office cannot do this for you. Our office is in-network with select vision and medical plans (carriers) . Some carriers (examples are United healthcare or Tricare) require referrals or prior authorizations. Please contact your PCP so we have the “Prior Auth” or else you may be held liable for the entire charge and your carrier will deny helping you with the cost of the exam! If you have questions please call your carrier to be sure you know their requirements, ACO, PPO, etc. – We cannot do this for you. If your carrier considers our office “open access” we can still perform your exam. You would need to provide invoices from our office directly to your carrier on your own behalf. Reimbursements will come directly to you subject to your plan’s restrictions and policies. If you have any qeustions we encourage you to call your carrier directly with questions.
