Dear Patients, Families & Friends,

We feel privileged you trust Tacoma Eye with your vision & eye health needs. We care deeply about the health, safety and well-being of our patients, our families and our employees. As the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to progress, our thoughts are with all of those affected. We are reaching out to let you know our top priority is to ensure our patients can be treated in the healthiest and safest environment possible.

We assure you that Dr. Meers is closely monitoring the CDC, Washington State Department of Health, American Academy of Ophthalmology & American Optometric Associations clinical care guidelines which are constantly changing. Tacoma Eye has always followed universal precaution recommendations (the standard of care) from the CDC, OSHA, and WHO. Previous patients may remember we disinfect instruments in front of patients. We have always provided NON-SURGICAL treatment of eye diseases. We are actively practicing social distancing in our office- this is based on facts, not fear

Now we are implementing additional precautions to help reduce the risk of transmission and to ensure that our patients, families, and team remain safe. We may ask patients to wait in their car prior to appointments, We ask patients to refrain from bringing guests. We are considering decreasing office hours and we recognize that some of these precautions will cause temporary inconveniences. However, please be assured that your health, our employee’s health and the health of our community are our main priorities. We are discouraging contact lens wear and encouraging patients to wear their backup eyeglasses. We are asking patients to visit our website to complete forms prior to their arrival here.

Dr. Meers is actively monitoring updates and closely following guidelines. Please understand the guidelines posted above could change with little to no notice as we are in the midst of an unprecedented and rapidly changing pandemic.

The changes implemented in our office are effective immediately and will continue until local and federal health officials determine they are no longer necessary to maintain public health and safety.

Thank you for your patience and trust.

Warmly,

Dr. George Meers & the Tacoma Eye team.
